Real-time Real Estate Monitoring Platform
About the project
The company specializes in commercial real estate leasing and sales. Their core product is a property status monitoring system. The service enables agents to track changes in properties of interest: change of owner, new encumbrances, cadastral value updates. This allows them to be the first to contact new owners and respond quickly to market changes.
Challenge
To design and build from scratch the web interface for a commercial real estate monitoring service. The goal was to create an intuitive system combining:
a property feed with flexible filters;
a detailed property card with history of extracts;
a monitoring management section (active, disabled, paused) with the ability to set up tracking and view triggers;
a map module for visual analysis of properties in their geographical context.
The main complexity was to merge analytical data (change history, cadastral value) with an operational interface suitable for agents' daily work.
Solution
I handled the entire product design cycle — from research and user scenarios to final design and the implementation of the map module.
Research & structure
I conducted interviews with agents to identify key scenarios: quick filtering, property change history, trigger notifications, and geovisualization. Based on this, I designed the information architecture of the service, created prototypes of the main sections (feed, property card, monitoring, map), and validated them with the client.
Visual design
I developed a unified design system: color palette, typography, component library (buttons, filters, tables, cards). Special attention was paid to responsiveness and element states. For the map, I designed layer switching logic, color coding for pins and clusters, tooltips with address and event type, as well as filters by date and trigger type.
Testing & iterations
Several rounds of prototype testing with real users were conducted. Based on feedback, I adjusted filter placement, improved table readability, extended tooltips, and added filter persistence when switching monitoring subtypes.
Result
The service is live and successfully used by real estate agencies. Key metrics:
Time to find a suitable property in a desired area decreased by 30%.
The number of activated monitoring setups increased by 15%.
Average response time to a trigger (change of owner or encumbrance) dropped by 20%.
